Top 10 Best Freeware
By fresh2def05
Introduction
Every new PC owner wants to know what the best software is, which is why today I thought I’d write a hub about what I think are the top ten most essential, best freeware applications available to my knowledge. Please keep in mind that even though this is my own opinionated list, I highly recommend these free software applications for any PC user, novice or not. So without further ado, here is the list.
The List
1. LastPass
LastPass is a free software application that lets you save, monitor and keep track of all of you passwords to your favorite site. LastPass confidently claims that once you have created your LastPass master password, it will be the last one you’ll ever need. This extremely convenient program allows the user full control over your favorite websites and login information right from your browser. This is a great organizational tool equipped with features such as auto-fill, form-fill and the LastPass Vault which allows you to view everything at once.
2. HD Graph
HD Graph is a very convenient program which maps out your entire hard drive in the form of a simple pie graph. This allows you view every single file and program on your computer as well as how much space is being used.
VLC Media Player is in my opinion the best free media player because of it’s compatibility with virtually any media format (video and audio) without having to download any additional codecs. This is the simplest media player out there with great features such as Firewire streaming, great browser and plug-in support and best of all, it’s free. You can’t beat that with a stick.
4. UTorrent
A much smaller version of BitTorrent used to download data in the torrent format, such as movies, games, music ect.
AVG antivirus is one of the most popular
free virus protection software around. A
very simple interface allows ease for beginners and experienced alike. Fast scanning, internet and email scanning,
search engine security and the new AVG linkscanner are all features which have
allows AVG to become the #1 ranked antivirus software on the internet. Although I have never had any problems with
this program, I have heard from others who have claimed different. In that
case, Avira anti vir is another great option. Please refer to this link for a better look into AVG and other good anti-virus solutions.
Malwarebytes is an outstanding anti-malware
application that thoroughly removes even the most advanced malware and spyware.
With one of the fastest and most efficient quick scans available, and unmatched
malware/spyware removal capabilities, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is arguably the
most sought after free malware removal program on the internet. Although Malwarebyte is great, it may not suit all of your personal needs. Be sure to check out this hub for an extensive list of free anti-spyware softwares.
7. CCleaner
Now, if this list was in order from best to worst, then CCLeaner would probablMaly have made #1. CCleaner is a great freeware system clean-up tool which enables the user to free up hard disk space, allowing windows to run faster and more efficiently. With endless clean-up categories such as cookies, history, temp files, registry and lots more, CCleaner is a must-have for all PC owners.
Mozilla Firefox has been ranked #1 in terms of the web browser available. Firefox maintains the most safe and stable web browsing environment available (in my opinion and most other). With an endless list of add-ons and plug-ins available on the Mozilla website, great support, and good browser customization make Firefox the ideal web browser.
9. Winrar
Winrar is a 32 bit version of the RAR archive manager. Winrar is a must-have program that provides complete support over RAR and zipped files. This allows you to compress and decompress files to and from the zipped format.
10. TruCrypt
TruCrypt is a free open source program that can create encrypted files that appear as diskdrives. But why stop there? With TruCrypt, you can actually encrypt an entire drive for maximum safety, keeping your personal files safe from any spying eyes.
Well that's my top ten list of free must-have software. I hope it helps at least one person. Please feel free to comment and add your own favorite software for those who may need something else. "Dueses"

I didn't know lastpass was free, good to know...I've got CC and use avast, you most probably got it listed in your anti-viral hub...I must've gotten a dozen people to rip-out norton for avast.;)
WinRAR is neat, but I'm more inclined to go with 7-zip--it's rather open source, except for the bits and bob of .rar compression. (But it'll still handle those) Also, it has the 7zip algorithm technique, too, which gives you a fully open source solution to compression.
W.K. Hayes,
I'm glad you enjoyed this hub and thanks for the heads up. I haven't heard of Zoom Player but I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for reading.
Mentalist acer,
Lol, the only thing I would probably use the Norton disc for is to cut pizza. Thanks for reading and I'm glad you found this hub useful. Be sure to check out my hub on anti-virus software. I think you'll like it.
Ixxy,
I just checked out 7-zip and your right. It seems like a great open source compression program. I actually won't be installing it anytime soon since I'm currently stuck on Linux but thanks a million for sharing.
Just for the record, I do think 7-zip is a great alternative to WinRAR. It compresses files to smaller sizes than WinRAR does, meaning less space is taken up. Thanks again Ixxy.
Hey fresh,
No prob! I'm rather sure 7-zip analogues exist in the Linux world--but I usually just stick with what the distro gives.
This is really interesting and useful top 10 list. Specially I mostly like CCleaner and Mozilla Firefox. Thanks for sharing :)
Nice freeware list. Thanks.

Hey, I actually lsited two other free software programs you might dig, diggy. They in the article 3D Art Life. CCcleaner is a great program and one I swear by
Great article...I've tried VLC but I like Zoom Player better and its free too. Utorrent is great, Mozilla Firefox is a good program although I only used it for Facebook...its been a while though.
Who can use a computer without winrar...greater than sliced bread for compressing old files and keeping hard drive space freed up. Winrar is also great for opening compressed files and RAR files are really common nowadays. I haven't tried some of the others, yet. Thanks again for the great article.
